This programme is designed for learners at this level: beginner. Work through demonstrations and practical exercises with Gregory, then apply the ideas to a guided project.

What you work towards

Finish an original track and build a playable scene-based version.

The nine live hours introduce and practise the core workflow. Allow time outside class to develop and refine your project; progress depends on your starting point and practice.

Interest list open. Intake dates will be announced when enrolment opens. Registering interest is free, does not reserve a place, and creates no payment obligation.

From understanding to application

Day 1

Build the foundation

  1. Audio and MIDI setup
  2. Session View and Arrangement View
  3. Recording, importing and organising clips
  4. Building a first loop
Day 2

Develop the technique

  1. Warping and audio editing
  2. MIDI editing and sound selection
  3. Devices, racks and effect routing
  4. Developing a loop into an arrangement
Day 3

Apply and review

  1. Balancing the mix and using automation
  2. Building scenes for a playable version
  3. Exporting audio and collecting project files
  4. Guided project review and next steps
Prepare for your sessions

What you’ll need

  • Ableton Live installed and tested before your first session.
  • A reliable internet connection and headphones or speakers.
  • A computer capable of running your chosen software and a live online call.
  • Software licences and equipment are arranged separately. Confirm the software edition, version and any additional tools with Gregory before purchasing anything for the course.
